Easy install, powered up right away, came with an extra mini-mini attachment for that extra small Maglite if you got one. A++ purchase! -- So much brighter!
I ordered it from amazon.com. It took me a min to install it. Everything works as expected. The megalite has advantage that it can adjust the focus. It is better than those multi-LED product. -- I like it!
After many years of having a burnt-out bulb. My flashlight is now working better than ever. This product integrates nicely with the flashlight and it turns off and on the same way, it just last longer. -- My flashlight now works.
Bought this for a decade old maglite. I was going to replace the bulb but decided to try the LED kit. It is super bright and easy to install. It would be 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that I can't keep a spare in the back of the maglite like I would with the regular bulb. -- nice maglite upgrade
I recently upgraded two Mini MagLites, both AA size. The first I got a cheap NiteIze 3-bulb LED from a retail store. The NiteIze product works OK, but the LEDs are vulnerably perched on wires atop the chip, skewed at uneven angles, and those LEDs produce a clinical icy white/blue light. The second upgrade was this purchase - the Terralux TLE-20 kit. Since the LED is embedded on the chip, it is physically a more durable form factor. The TLE produces a softer white/yellow light which appears a tad dimmer than the competing product, but I found the TLE much more pleasing to the eye.
I considered just ordering a new AA LED Maglite, but I already owned a perfectly good housing (incandescent) and prefer to reuse what I already have. In the $10-$20 price range, the variations in price are unimportant compared with your personal preferences.
After reviewing the AA LED Maglite on the manufacturer's website, I assume their product has a superior reflector geometry. Why else would they make the LED version of their product so much larger/longer than the incandescent version. I assume the longer OEM reflector/housing does a better job of collimating the LED light source. But again, I preferred to retrofit what I had.
Intended usage is around the house or in the car or roadside in a pinch. I don't give a darn how far the beam reaches. I just want something bright that stretches my battery life much longer than incandescent. One might choose a higher wattage LED upgrade kit, but keep in mind the battery life will be cut down. I'm satisfied with the TLE-20 kit and would do it again if I had another AA Maglite to upgrade... -- Better than competing product
